Inverbooks - Since 1986 |
| |
History.Inverbooks is a small private bookselling business based in Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland. We sell mainly Reformed Christian literature and the booklists have always contained a good number of Scottish religious writers. We have operated from home since 1986: the first handwritten booklist had only 34 items on it and the bulk of these books went to a private Canadian book buyer.
In 1990 we progressed to the dizzy heights of modern technology by producing a booklist on an electronic telex with a screen and a memory of something like 30k.

The disadvantage was that the telex only did capital letters! By 1996 the telex was replaced by a secondhand 286 computer and the quality of the list improved. By then it had increased to 115 items; it all depended on the amount of good books available. Booklist 20, 1999, had grown to 487 items and was divided into sections: booklets, paperbacks, hardbacks and children books.
By around 2002 it became apparent that to produce two booklists a year was too expensive in relation to the cost of printing and postage, we introduced a small e-mail booklist which was supplemented once a year by one hard copy mailed list.
In 2007 we decided to end both these methods and concentrate on our website, www.inverbooks.co.uk; updates will be given via e-mail. The website is still in development and will hopefully improve through time.

About the Web site.Click on Booklist and then on "title" at the blue bar at the top of the top of the list: this will show all book titles listed alphabetically. If you click on "author" the books will be listed alphabetically as per author. For more information about a particular book, click on the book title and further details are displayed. Books will be added or removed from the web site as the list changes.
When customers contact us with an order, an e-mail will be forwarded with added postage- and package costs and payment details.
